Linda Briskman

Australia

Linda Briskman is an experienced academic and human rights social worker. She began her social work career in the field of child and family welfare in rural communities. Areas of expertise inlclude  Indigenous rights; migration/refugees;  and racism, particularly Islamophobia. She conducts inter-disciplinary research and publishes across these three areas in Australia and internationally. Recent books include: Indigenous Health Ethics: An appeal to human rights (co-edited with Deborah Zion and Alireza Bagheri 2021), Social Work in the Shadow of the Law (co-edited with Simon Rice and Andrew Day 2018) and Social Work with Indigenous Communities: A human rights approach (2014).

 Current research includes a Stolen Generations Story (with Associate Professor Terri Libesman (UTS), Children of Isamophobia (with UWA and Charles Sturt universities) and  CI on an NHMRC project, Dalarinji, led by Associate Professor Karen Soldatic. Previous appointments include Professor of Human Rights at Swinburne University of Technology and Dr Haruhisa Handa Chair of Human Rights Education at Curtin University.

لیندا بریسمن مددکار اجتماعی باتجربه دانشگاهی و فعال در حوزه حقوق بشر است. او فعالیت اجتماعی خود را در زمینه رفاه کودک و خانواده در جوامع روستایی آغاز کرد. حوزه های تخصصی وی شامل حقوق بومیان؛ مهاجرت/پناهندگان و نژادپرستی به ویژه اسلام هراسی می‌شود. تحقیقات بین رشته ای او در این سه حوزه هم در استرالیا و هم در جهان به چاپ می‌رسند. کتابهای اخیر وی عبارتند از: اخلاق سلامت بومیان: درخواستی از حقوق بشر (با همکاری دبورا صهیون و علیرضا باقری 2021) ، مددکاری اجتماعی در سایه قانون (تدوین مشترک سیمون رایس و اندرو دی 2018) و مددکاری اجتماعی با اجتماعات بومیان: رویکردی حقوق بشری (2014). تحقیقات اخیر وی نیز عبارتند از: داستان ربوده‌شده نسل‌ها (با همکاری تری لیبسمن (دانشیار UTS) و کودکان اسلام‌هراسی (با همکاری دانشگاههای UWA و چارلز استورت). او پیش‌تر استاد حقوق بشر در دانشگاه صنعتی سوینبرن و ریاست آموزش حقوق بشر در دانشگاه کرتین بوده است.
